Shakespeare's classic of tale of love wrecked by jealousy and power is updated for the modern age in this PBS Masterpiece Theatre production. John Othello (Eamonn Walker) is London's first black police commissioner. His best friend, Ben Jago, had expected the appointment and is bitterly disappointed not to have gotten the job. Seeking revenge, he decides to take advantage of John's extreme devotion to his wife, Dessie, to defeat him.
