Wealthy Cuban landowner Luis Vargas (Antonio Banderas) sends away for a plain-Jane bride from the United States named Julia Russell (Angelina Jolie). But when she arrives and turns out to be stunningly beautiful, Vargas is putty in her hands. Not a good thing, since Vargas's new wife turns out to be a cunning con artist of the first order and leaves her new husband breathless -- and holding the bag. Thomas Jane co-stars.
