The traveling vigilante known only as El Mariachi (Antonio Banderas) is recruited by a CIA agent (Johnny Depp) to take down a corrupt general who's allied with a powerful drug lord (Willem Dafoe) -- a villain who plans to overthrow the president of Mexico.
