It's Holy Week in Seville, a time when hooded, starkly dressed supplicants recall the Spanish legacy of secret societies and hidden networks of power. Simón (Eduardo Noriega), a crossword-puzzle writer, receives a cryptic message threatening him with death if certain words don't appear in his puzzles. His investigation leads him to believe that he's an unwitting player in a cruel game masterminded by those closest to him.
