That day, the waves rose like giants, ready to engulf anyone who dared face their wrath, as winds and weather patterns stoked the water to overwhelming proportions. But for a handful of supremely dedicated surfers, the waves beckoned to be tamed -- by nothing more than a surfboard and the power of the human will.
