Jake (Eric Stoltz) and Joanne (Mary-Louise Parker) are college sweethearts who slowly drift apart. Jake is a playwright with grand ideas, but he can't seem to take the first step to make anything happen for himself -- that is, until he's given a shot in New York City with a drama he wrote with his friend Chris (Ralph Macchio). Things get tricky, however, when Jake realizes Chris has more than just friendship in mind.
