To his first color film -- an all-star production of Giuseppe Verdi's "Messa Da Requiem" shot at Milan's Teatro alla Scala -- film noir director Henri-Georges Clouzot brings his unique visual style. Leontyne Price (soprano), Nicolai Ghiaurov (bass), Fiorenza Cossotto (mezzo-soprano) and Luciano Pavarotti (tenor) sing the principal roles, accompanied by the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of famed conductor Herbert von Karajan.
