Me and the Colonel
(1958)|
Funnyman Danny Kaye turns in a nuanced performance (for which he earned a Golden Globe) as S.L. Jacobowsky, a Jewish refugee fleeing Nazi-occupied Paris. As fate would have it, he finds himself in league with an anti-Semitic Polish colonel (Curd Jürgens) who grudgingly agrees to help him escape. During their flight, Jacobowsky displays remarkable presence of mind and quick wit, qualities that prompt his bigoted companion to rethink his beliefs.
