College student Robbie Wheeling (Tom Hanks) and his buddies share an obsession with the board game "Mazes and Monsters." To make the play more realistic, they decide to move the game off the board and into a cavern steeped in local legend. But once there, Robbie starts having visions, and the line between reality and fantasy blurs into a dangerous adventure. Wendy Crewson, Lloyd Bochner, Chris Makepeace and Susan Strasberg co-star.
