Director Pedro Almodovar explores human nature's dark side in this pitch-black comedy that centers on a bullfighter (Nacho Martinez) who's forced to retire but still yearns for the thrill of the kill. He eventually discovers that making love to a woman before spearing her is the closest thing to life in the ring -- and is elated when he meets his match in beautiful Maria (Assumpta Serna). A young Antonio Banderas plays an aspiring matador.
