After Londoner Meera (Deepika Padukone) leaves her boyfriend, Jai (Saif Ali Khan), for a job in India, an elderly romantic named Veer Singh (Rishi Kapoor) tells Jai a story from his youth in Calcutta, when he traveled a thousand miles to woo the woman he loved. Parallel stories of long-distance love unfold in 2009 and 1965 in this epic Bollywood romance, featuring music by Pritam and lyrics by Irshad Kamil.
