A liberal Jewish philosophy student (Laura Fraser) in early 1970s Antwerp, Belgium, takes a job as nanny to the 4-year-old son (Adam Monty) of a strict Hasidic family. Despite the generational and cultural conflicts the nanny encounters, the experience opens her mind to the depth of both her Jewish identity and that of her Holocaust survivor parents. Actor Jeroen Krabbe (Prince of Tides), who plays the boy's father, makes his directorial debut.
