When his family moves to rural Virgina, troubled city kid Matt Turner (Tom Guiry) befriends an amazing collie named Lassie, whose unyielding loyalty helps Matt through his stormy adolescence. The dog even assists Matt in a budding romance with a local girl (Michelle Williams). The family-friendly heart-warmer also stars Jon Tenney as Matt's widowed father and Helen Slater as his new stepmother.
