Franco Zeffirelli (of Romeo and Juliet fame) delivers one of the best-ever film versions of a classic opera, with the benefit of two of the genre's greatest voices. Placido Domingo is Alfredo and Teresa Stratas is Violetta in Verdi's operatic version of Alexandre Dumas's "Camille." Zeffirelli was also in charge of production design and nabbed an Oscar nomination for art direction/set decoration. Another nomination went to the costume design.
