Compelling and allegorical, La Frontera tells the story of Ramiro (Patricio Contreras), a Chilean schoolteacher and political dissenter sentenced to external exile from Santiago. Distraught, Ramiro is forced to travel south to a small village still recovering from a devastating tidal wave that struck 25 years earlier. Making the best of the situation, he settles in and soon falls for the lovely Maite, but tragedy is waiting in the wings.
