Surly, 14-year-old Joe Henry (Noah Fleiss) exists in a fog, all but shell-shocked from a lifetime in a violent household. To make matters worse, his classmates taunt him, and creditors hassle him about his sporadically employed father's mounting bills. So, it comes as no shock when Joe resorts to petty -- but escalating -- crime. Can guidance counselor Len Coles (Ethan Hawke) set Joe on the right course, or will his life spiral out of control?
