Blending desolation and anguish with an invincible spirit, director William Wellman's tense drama stars John Wayne as Capt. Dooley, a seasoned World War II transport pilot forced into an emergency landing in Labrador's frosty wasteland. Dooley and his four crewmen, who are ill prepared for the situation, must combat the elements as they anxiously await rescue. Lloyd Nolan, James Arness and Andy Devine turn in first-rate supporting performances.
