Annie (Rita Wilson), a wife and loving mother of two, has always believed she had a third child named Maggie. Even though this child does not exist, her husband, Tom (Victor Garber), and the children have been going along with it for Annie's sake. When a new nanny is hired, Tom makes sure that she, too, goes along with the story. But after hearing Annie talk about Maggie, the nanny decides to help Annie search for her "lost child."
