In Woody Allen's first dramatic film, the disintegration of an upper class couple's marriage forces their three grown daughters (Diane Keaton, Mary Beth Hurt and Kristin Griffith) to reveal their feelings about their parents (E.G. Marshall and Geraldine Page) and each other. The film received Academy Award nominations for director, screenplay, art direction (Mel Bourne and Daniel Robert), actress (Page) and supporting actress (Maureen Stapleton).
