Living in the slums of Manila next to a garbage dump, teenager Insiang (Hilda Koronel) is raped by her mother's boyfriend (Ruel Vernal). After reporting the incident to her mother (Mona Lisa) and receiving no sympathy, Insiang sets out to exact revenge on all those who have ever hurt her. Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Lino Brocka, this compelling tale of revenge was the first Filipino film ever to screen at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival.
