Kenneth Branagh plays frustrated Los Angeles playwright Peter McGowan, who suffers noisy neighbors and hack actors who mangle his dialogue. But all that changes when he befriends an 8-year-old girl (Suzi Hofrichter) who shares his annoyance: the constant barking of a local dog. Robin Wright Penn plays Branagh's wife, with Lynn Redgrave as his mother-in-law.
