After a head injury, Ko Chun (Chow Yun Fat), a cardsharp known for his sixth sense, loses everything -- including his memory -- and has to be nursed back to health. With the help of a doting apprentice (Andy Lau), he stakes a new claim as the "Retarded King of Gamblers" and takes the Hong Kong saloons by storm. This slapstick flick from director Wong Jing served as a model for Hong Kong gambler movies, spawning a string of sequels.
