God (Antonio Fagundes) has reached the end of his patience with the human race and has decided to take some time off. But he must find someone to fill in for him while he's away. Running down his list of saints, he travels to Brazil, where he meets Taoca (Wagner Moura), a likable young man with a passion for life that inspires God to revise some of his ideas about the human race.
