In 1979, internationally acclaimed classical violinist Isaac Stern was invited to perform concerts in China and gave a series of master classes to talented Chinese musicians at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music -- an extraordinary cultural exchange chronicled in this classic documentary. Also included is the newer film Musical Encounters, which tracks Stern as he returns to China, 20 years later, and catches up with his old students.
