A group of American exchange students learns some eye-opening lessons about life and love when they travel to Paris to study for a year. Meanwhile, maverick teacher Madame Catherine Tessier (Marie-France Pisier) takes student Joel (Miles Chapin) under her wing -- and into her bed. Debra Winger and Mandy Patinkin co-star in this comic coming-of-age tale co-written by American Graffiti scripters Gloria Katz and Willard Huyck, who also directs.
