In this drama set in the 1930s and directed by Li Kong Hsu and Chi Yin, Shaodung (Lei Huang), a Chinese cellist born in America, goes home to Beijing to meet a woman arranged to be his wife, Ing'er (Rene Li). But his heart has other plans, in spite of his own inner conflict; instead of loving Ing'er, his attentions shift to a male opera singer, Lin Chun (Chao-te Yi).
