While helming the Manhattan Project, flinty Gen. Leslie R. Groves (Paul Newman) clashes with head scientist J. Robert Oppenheimer (Dwight Schultz) as they race to build the first nuclear bomb in this absorbing drama chronicling the events that spawned the atomic age. With the deadline looming, tensions grow when Oppenheimer and his physicist colleagues begin to regret their participation. Bonnie Bedelia and John Cusack provide solid support.
