Directed by Liv Ullmann from a script by Ingmar Bergman, Faithless is a story of passion and infidelity based on a real event in Bergman's past. A screenwriter (Erland Josephson) summons his muse in the form of a memory as he sits down to write a script about a past love affair. After Marianne (Lena Endre) appears to him and discusses his ideas for the story, she's transformed into the main character of the film he's now writing.
