Wayne Wang directed this delicate drama about an arranged but love-filled marriage gone awry. After the ban against the immigration of Chinese women is lifted, Wah Gay (Victor Wong) sends his son (Russell Wong) back to China to find his betrothed (Cora Miao). It's a love match, but when they return to America, the challenges of making a living and adjusting to a new life, plus the attentions of a gambler (Eric Tsang), threaten their marriage.
