Middle-aged college professor Packard Schmidt (Julian Sands) tries to spice up his humdrum existence but winds up making a mess of his life in this dark comedy. The lonely academic impulsively runs off to Vegas and has an affair with his best friend's daughter (Katharine Towne). But Packard grows obsessed with the young lady, resulting in a series of personal and professional disasters. John Savage, James Belushi and Fisher Stevens co-star.
