Rising from humble means, Charles Dickens (played by Roy Dotrice) would become one of the most famous writers in history, spawning classics such as A Tale of Two Cities, Great Expectations and David Copperfield. Oscar winner Ben Kingsley also stars in this 13-part "Masterpiece Theatre" miniseries that includes a bonus one-man show portraying Dickens (this time played by Simon Callow) reading aloud his holiday classic, A Christmas Carol.
