The second film from the great German director Ernst Lubitsch to be distributed in the United States, this silent historical epic is a departure from the sophisticated comedies he would become known for in later years. Acclaimed German actor Emil Jannings gives a memorable performance as England's Henry VIII in this tragic tale about the monarch's doomed second wife, Anna Boleyn (Henny Porten).
