Set in Charleston, South Carolina, Deceiver centers on the brutal murder of a young prostitute (Renée Zellweger) and the series of polygraph tests taken by upper-crust resident (and prime suspect) Wayland (Tim Roth). Despite constant probing by two detectives (Chris Penn and Michael Rooker), it's their lives that are laid bare as the brilliant Roth, during questioning, turns the tables and gives the officers the third degree.
