David Copperfield

In the first of producer David O. Selznik's classic literary adaptations, Freddie Bartholomew plays David Copperfield, a young man who finds himself buffeted from household to household after his mother dies. George Cukor directs this Oscar-nominated production, which also stars Basil Rathbone (as David's stepfather), W.C. Fields (as the ever-in-debt Mr. Micawber), Lionel Barrymore, Frank Lawton (as the grown-up David) and Maureen O'Sullivan.
