As bickering couple David (Alan Rickman) and Alexis (Polly Walker) race through a downpour to catch the last ferry to their island retreat, they spot a crumpled body by the side of the road. The injured young man (Norman Reedus) reluctantly accepts their help but refuses to let them summon the authorities. When they encounter the mysterious stranger again on the island, little do they suspect their kindness toward him could destroy their lives.
