This sparkling musical comedy stars Joan Crawford as Janie Barlow, an aspiring hoofer who repels a wealthy playboy's amorous overtures as she pursues an illustrious stage director. While performing at a burlesque hall, Janie attracts the attention of man-about-town Tod Newton (Franchot Tone), who helps her get into a Broadway show helmed by Patch Gallagher (Clark Gable). Trouble is, he isn't interested in Janie -- professionally or romantically.
