Hardboiled ace columnist Kathy Ferguson (Barbara Stanwyck) has brains and talent, but she's also got a blind spot: She's in love with a Los Angeles detective. Funneling all her energy into helping the unambitious slug become an inspector, Kathy even offers to bed Inspector Pope, her husband's boss. When he rejects her, she flips out and shoots Pope dead in a crime of passion. Raymond Burr and Sterling Hayden co-star.
