Cotton Mary

Directed by Ismail Merchant (of the famed Merchant-Ivory team) and set in 1950s India, this film tells the story of a British woman (Greta Scacchi) who gives birth but can't nurse the baby. The woman's nurse -- the half-English, half-Indian "Cotton" Mary (Madhur Jaffrey) -- enlists her handicapped sister (Neena Gupta) to serve as the baby's wet nurse while she takes credit for its care, wheedling her way into the baby's posh British household.
