The feature-length documentary "The Making of Close Encounters," which combines archival production footage with recent cast and crew interviews, highlights this disc. There's also a shorter featurette, "Watching the Skies," produced for the movie's theatrical release. Among the disc's 11 deleted scenes: interior footage of the mother ship filmed for the Special Edition and later removed by director Steven Spielberg.
