In this heart-tugging drama based on Aben Kandel's novel, truck driver Danny Kenny (James Cagney) pays a heavy price when he turns to boxing to help bankroll his brother's music education. Determined to succeed, Danny steadily rises through the prizefighting ranks -- until an opponent's dirty trick destroys Danny's eyesight. The high-powered cast includes Arthur Kennedy, Anthony Quinn, Elia Kazan and Ann Sheridan as Cagney's love interest.
