In Monterey, Calif., a town populated by hookers and hobos, marine biologist Doc (Nick Nolte) and mercurial Suzi (Debra Winger) seem out of place … but their shared experience as community misfits makes them perfect for each other. Despite their camaraderie, though, Doc harbors secrets that Suzi has yet to unravel. This dual adaptation of John Steinbeck's novellas Cannery Row and its sequel, Sweet Thursday, also stars Audra Lindley.
