Struggling Hong Kong musician Kit (Ching Wan Lau) is unable to make it as a commercial success because he staunchly refuses to sell out. He breaks up with his more successful girlfriend and moves to a poorer part of town, where he meets a dying girl named Min (Anita Yuen) and members of the Chinese opera troupe of which Min is a member. Through their relationship, Kit rediscovers his love of music and regains an interest in his life's meaning.
