In one of his last screen roles, Clark Gable plays Broadway producer Russ Ward, who's throwing in the towel after 30 years on the job. But when he breaks the news to his dewy 22-year-old secretary (Carroll Baker), she responds with a love note. Ever the man of the theater, Ward turns the situation into a play and casts her in the lead role -- all the while trying to reconcile his feelings about their May-December romance.
