Edgy comedy maverick Richard Pryor finds his gooey center in this sweet-natured, 1981 road trip. Pryor, who cowrote the script, plays Joe Braxton, an ex-con hired to drive a busload of ornery, emotionally disturbed children from Philadelphia to Washington state. Along the way, he teaches the kids invaluable life lessons such as fishing and strip poker. Cicely Tyson plays the straight-laced educator who falls for Pryor's goofy charms.
