After traveling to a small Southern town for his murdered brother's funeral, Duke (Fred Williamson) and his girlfriend (Pam Grier) decide to reopen the dead man's nightclub. Problems arise, however, when the local police, led by Roy (Thalmus Rasulala), try and shake the pair down for money. Duke then calls his crew of street toughs from the city to fend off the cops, setting the stage for this blaxploitation thriller's violent conclusion.
