Impressionable Charles Ryder (Matthew Goode) becomes enthralled with the lifestyle of effete Oxford schoolmate Sebastian Flyte (Ben Whishaw) after spending the summer holiday at his patrician family's well-appointed estate, Brideshead Castle. During the course of two world wars, Charles is drawn into their self-indulgent world while falling in love with Sebastian's sister (Hayley Atwell) in this big-screen adaptation of Evelyn Waugh's novel.
