After being unjustly court-martialed for cowardice in battle, former U.S. Cavalry Capt. Jason McCord (Chuck Connors) lives the rest of his life without ever fingering the man who really deserves the blame: his commanding officer. In the first season of this Western drama, a newspaper reporter tries his darnedest to find out exactly what happened at the Battle of Bitter Creek, and McCord visits the family of a Confederate officer he had to kill.
