Persuaded by a devious corporate henchman (Bill Paxton) to operate on a schizophrenic mathematician (Bud Cort), a brain surgeon (Bill Pullman) begins experiencing first hand his patient's paranoid confusion. Despite his best efforts, the doctor soon finds himself slipping into a quicksand of insanity. Based on a screenplay by "Twilight Zone" writer Charles Beaumont, this inventive, low-budget thriller is a surreal and loopy delight.
