Assigned to investigate drug smuggling across the Mexican border, government agents Johnny McEvoy (Fred MacMurray) and Madeleine Haley (Claire Trevor) each mistakenly believes the other is a criminal in this classic film noir directed by William A. Seiter. Consequently, the two spend a lot of time sparring with each other while trying to take down the bad guy -- smuggling ringleader Pete Ritchie (Raymond Burr).
