Based on a Chinese short story, this dark comedy set in 1920s Ireland centers on Harry Maloney (Colm Meaney), a bitter man in search of a purpose after the death of his wife and son. Harry sets his sights on destroying successful pub owner George O'Flaherty (Adrian Dunbar). When his son falls for O'Flaherty's daughter, Harry's irrational hatred for the man doubles, and he's forced to deal with his son's impending marriage.
